Im officially becoming a monarchist !!! Princess Madeline for President!!!

Holy shit. With her blond hair and sparkling blue eyes, Princess Madeline is the embodiment of a Nordic-princess fantasy, and she leads a flamboyant life too: she is best known for her stunning good looks, wild partying, a foiled kidnap attempt by Eastern European gangsters and the fact that she is a paparazzi ‘honey pot’. Since attempts by royal advisers to calm her down and shed her party-girl image, she has devoted most of her time to studying, completing internships at the UN and working for her mother, Queen Silvia’s foundation World Childhood Foundation. Nice.

More awesomeness here

Objective standards of beauty.

So as we celebrate the 3196th year since Troy fell, I found this neat tidbit from Isaac Asimov: Asimov’s suggestion of a unit for quantifying the measurement of beauty: “the milliHelen.” If the beauty of Helen of Troy was sufficient to launch a thousand ships, then one millihelen would be beauty sufficient to launch a single ship.

Wow. Just... WOW.

Good News I'm Excited to Share

But need to keep in slightly on the DL at school until everything is in place.

It's not a huge change, but I'm excited.

I've accepted an offer to teach part time at UNC in the evening next spring!

UNC BEST

It's not set in admantium yet, but barring some bizarre scheduling conflict at the UNC end, I should be a go.

The short of it, I get to teach a course to college undergrads on how to teach chemistry - planning the year, developing units and the ol' box of tricks for tackling the fun topics. I'll also coordinate observations within the three high schools in my district.

The money is good and should take care of a beach trip or two the following summer!

Running hazards

So lets say you're a copperhead, and its been 90 degrees all day long. All you REALLY want to do is stretch out and have a nice nap on some warm asphalt... that is until some gi-normous jack@ss comes running along and wakes you up.
I thought running @ night would be safe... Ummmm. No. Luckily in the dark the contrast between the asphalt and the snake was striking enough for me to change mid-stride and not step on the snake. It was a shame that all the pee & poop that immediately filled my pants dripped down on him. Sorry Mr. Snake !!!!!!!

21ST CENTURY RELATIONSHIPS: Woman Seeking Man Who Knocked Her Up In The Bathroom At Megadeth/Motorhead Show On Craigslist. Posted

In a post entitled, "Did we hook up at the Megadeth/Motorhead concert? – w4m – 28 (Aragon Ballroom)," an anonymous woman wrote the following post, which is reproduced here in its entirety:

"Me: Blue hair, silver tube top, fishnets, Knee high black biker boots.
You: Red mohawk, black pentagram gauges, viper piercings.

I was grinding on you in the pit, then we went to the bathroom, and got f***ed up. You had a nice c**k and I was wasted so I let [you] raw dog it in the stall. You were really good and you had to gag me so I would make too much noise.

Anyway I'm pregnant. It's yours. contact me if you want to be part of your child's life."

Who, exactly , goes into a rest stop restroom with a sharpie?

I mean, is it spur of the moment to leave pertinent info or premeditated? And how much expected return is there? It just seems crazy to expect someone to take time out of their interstate travel to arrange a meet & greet -- maybe on trip back, but by then they've probably forgotten the number. Maybe I'm just not the target demographic for this kind of advertising.

So if you were not aware, Pete from The League is also the KIng of the Indie Film

From the files of Capt. Shitknife.

Happy Blessed Wednesday!

This note is going out to one particular member of our community who
may read our community board... Whoever it was that stole the two
Easter ferns that were hanging on our front porch has truly taken away
from the beauty of the Easter Spirit that this week is supposed to
entail, and it's truly disappointing.

To have stolen the ferns would have taken premeditation, as the hooks
were tightened on the fern hangers and you would have had to walk
completely onto our porch to remove them... You also would have had to
stand on something to pry them from their hooks.

So, not only did you steal, but you trespassed and violated our
private space while we were home.

Thank you for the compliment that you liked our ferns, but considering
the meaning of this holiday week, it's disconcerting that someone
would actually do something so despicable, while we are in the safety
of our own home. It remains beyond conscious thought.

We were advised by neighbors when we first arrived to lock, glue,
nail, and tie our furniture to the porch on top of installing a home
security system... We're glad we took that to heart and done each and
all of the above, whereas we would have lost those items, as well.

**************************************************************
It's one thing to break into our car (along with 32 others in 48
hours) in our driveway, but another to actually step onto our porch to
purposefully commit theft.

Editors note: Capt Shitknife knows not of what said writer is speaking.
**************************************************************
You know who you are, and we would appreciate that you returned them
by this evening.

If not, you are welcome for the beauty of our ferns... The interest
thing is that had you spoken to us directly and asked, we may have
extended one of the ferns to you as a gift out of the Spirit of
Easter.

May the others in our community remain blessed during this special
Easter week.

Even for a non-Who-ite, this is funny shit.

Bucket loads of wha................?????????????

It ain't about taking a dump.

Epic Pooh.

Michael Moorcock of Elric fame criticises a group of celebrated writers of epic fantasy for children, including Tolkien, C. S. Lewis, and Richard Adams.
The title arises from Moorcock's argument that the writing of Tolkien, Lewis, Adams and others has a similar purpose to the Winnie-the-Pooh writings of A. A. Milne, another author of whom he disapproves: it is fiction intended to comfort rather than challenge.
