Shamelessly ripped from Gee

Although he did rip 'Greasy Sax Man' from us (even if he didn't mean to in a 'My Sweet Lord' kind of way):

Our peeps need to see this because it's really fucking neat (even posted it to my school twitter; attempting to expose the kiddies to a larger world, or some such Ben Kenobi bullshit).

This might be the most badassed thing EvAh!!!

All Better

Mumford & Sons playing downtown amphitheater in June! Who is with me?

Scream

A lot of things have sucked lately. Nuclear meltdown in Japan, pay and job cuts at NC State, and getting divorced from Miss Thang. But today my spirits hit rocks bottom because there won't be any Mad Men in 2011.

RE: DragonCon

We will be live blogging "Human Centipede" as soon as it finishes downloading.
Get your tkts, beeches.

Thinking about taking a big step into adulthood.

The wife's SUV takes synthetic oil, which is HELLA expensive. I'm thinking its time to get some ramps and a drip pan and start changing my own oil. The ramps are about $40, oil is $25 for 5 quarts and the filter is $10. That alone is cheaper than a change.
After that, I'll be getting my wings punched on like Hunter in "Death before Dishonor"

OMG.... my son is fucking Stewie!!!!

Like father, like son.

You may have heard the story of me in preschool where I caused a riot at the Christmas party, ending up with a toppled tree and I was asked to leave the school.

So the wife took Cam to a Gymboree today for some intro good times with a class of 1 year olds. Turns out Cam is QUITE large for his age compared to even an 18 month old, and he was generally uncooperative, a little bit mouthy ( eating all the balls that DO NOT GO IN THE MOUTH) and was running around and not being a member of the team.
He was asked to not come back.

Awesome.

Just had a kid tell me

that she uses the KIA rat commercial (the one with the song by Black Sheep) to inspire her on quizzes and tests. Whatever works, I suppose

Honored and Old

I got invited to the (NC State) First Year College 15th birthday party as an honored alumnus and friend of the program. It's a hard invitation to get (my director and associate director were snubbed). The problem is that I was in the first First Year College cohort, meaning 15 F-ing years have passed since I started college. Grrr...

(I can't feel that old, though, because every time I visit Landmark or Helios, I'm beating the 20 year old ladies off with a stick...my homework requires me to use 5 colors of highlighters and they like that. I'm betting, though, that I'm too old for coloring to be a good way to start a relationship).

Not sure how to make a poll

Anyway... should the wife & I use up our valuable free time, having a baby sitter on Saturday, to go see "Sucker Punch", which the reviews are raping but its got robots, nazis, samurai, a dragon, dirigibles... So I'm opening it up to the community, sans Tbone who gave up the tubes for Lent. I know, I know... he's a Buddhist. But the question is ... should we stay or should we go ???

Is credit card fraud just something we have to accept as part & parcel of our current lifestyle ?

Couple months ago someone got my debit card & ordered stuff from like the gap & itunes. Looks like someone got my AMEX card & ordered stuff from a camera website, itunes and microsoft technet.

I'm not even pissed off -- I'm sort of like "Well, its how we've decided to live" --- but I WOULD like to know the address where they intended to ship the camera stuff and then go put a boot up their ass. It is the American way.

Sky-net became self aware today...

Told the little man to close the fridge - he wasn't even in the kitchen. He went over, closed it, and then used his launch codes to destroy 90% of humanity.

You got nuts AND bananas ???

Aflac duck silenced by The Man for speakin' TRUTH

Gilbert Gottfried was fired by Aflac on Monday after the comedian made a number of distasteful jokes about the devastation in Japan.

“Japan is really advanced,” Gottfried tweeted on Monday afternoon, “They don’t go to the beach. The beach comes to them."

Aflac quickly cut ties with the comedian following a string of similar comments.

Hollywood Reporter has more:

Aflac, which does 75 percent of its business in Japan, also plans to donate $100 million to disaster relief.

Gottfried has yet to apologize for the jokes, which included: “I just split up with my girlfriend, but like the Japanese say, ‘They’ll be another one floating by any minute now.’”

Wife & kid out of town!!!!

Am I the only one who feels like they are literally staring Armageddon in the face every time you watch stuff from Japan? I feel like I'm waiting for the end game on those reactors rather than following minute by minute -- if they save the day, we'll not remember it in a few months... if they dont, we'll never forget it. Also, if it takes the 5th largest earthquake ever to crack a nuke plant, I feel kind of ok but thats a Japanese nuke plant. WTF happens when the "Big One" hits California? ALL of those big cities are right on the coast, and even if they're prepped to survive the earthquake, its the tsunami that killed nearly everyone. Also, notice how it seems like EVERYONE in Japan is an old person... thats reality. The idea that they'll spend $200 billion on infrastructure that no one will be using seems ludicrous.

Anyway...Going to see "Battle Los Angeles" tonight.

Update -- things apparently aren't as bad as they seem , according to MIT nuke scientists.

D Day

11:00 AM: Impact of NC State budget cuts will be known to me...like what I'll be doing weekdays 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Charlie Sheen watch ( for those of you not watching the 'Sidney Lowe Retirement Countdown' )

Quotes from the Howard Stern interview:

“I’m shakin’ a tree. I’m shakin’ all the trees. ”

[On why he's so quotable] “I’m grandiose. Because I live a grandiose life. I’m not aw shucks… because I’m gnarly.”

“I’m celebrating me, every day.”

[On Sean Penn, who called to offer support] “He is the best actor in the history of the spoken word. We must honor him as a national hero, period the end. He’s got tiger blood, he’s got adonis DNA, he gets it.”

[On Mel Gibson calling to offer support] “Mel’s a rockstar, I love it.”

[On past prostitutes who've gone public with their Charlie Sheen stories] “Yeah, where is she now? She’s under a bridge.”

[On Two and a Half Men, and possibly being replaced] “They all get what they deserve at that point.”

[Upon being asked, 'What do you mean when you say you have tiger's blood] “It’s a metaphor for having absolute rocket fuel in my veins. That’s why people cannot process me.”

“I live inside the truth, and you cannot debate me.”

“Panic is for amateurs and morons.”

[On being asked, 'Are you worth a hundred million dollars?'] “I think I’m worth over a 100 BILLION dollars, but that’s just on a cellular level.”

[On being asked, 'Didn't you used to bang Tabitha Stevens?'] “Yeah, like a thousand years ago when she was hot.”

['And what was that like?'] “I dunno, I was loaded, dude.”

“I’m sober down to my Adonis DNA.”

“And for those that are not onboard, it’s like, ‘Catch ya in the rearview, losers.’”

Originally, didn't think this was blog worthy

but then I wrote a couple of hundred words or so...here ya go.

(and I'm now attempting to keep a low net-profile).

So, about a year and a half ago, I started up a twitter feed (not my normal one) with the intention of piping HW's or interesting links to my students. After some thought about social networking and teachers, I decided that this probably wasn't the best idea so I never publicized it nor did I post anything to it. Fast forward to today...

My students already knew that I had a twitter that I used essentially as a news/opinion/Charlie Sheen aggregator, although they had no idea what my user name was. One of them decides to search for me on the twitter and finds this dormant account (I used my real name because it was going to be quasi school related); she then declares 'I'm following you now'...after a few seconds of utter confusion (and pants shitting fear that she had stumbled onto my real twitter account), we figure out that it was this "school" account that she's discovered.

Within 15 minutes I have 10 followers, all from the school (most of whom are no longer in my class); so now, I'm trying to figure out how best to "use" this account for my own amusement (especially since my attempt to make myself a trending topic on twitter through my students use of hash tags failed). So far today, I've posted my HW assignments (my original intended purpose) and called all of my non current student followers losers; I need ideas.

Overall, I've decided that I'm pretty comfortable with the current twitter arrangement, as it's not a reciprocal one (that is, students can follow me without me following them), so I have yet to see the downside (other than I'll grow bored with it rather quickly). I guess I'm looking for amusing things to add (other than Sheen quotes and goatse) that are school appropriate.

Happy world map day!!!

I added the geography widget on the side but its not formatting correctly
Oh well.
I made it to round 10 then missed out on some pacific rim stuff.
Enjoy
