Farewell
He did a lot for the University and all of us who enjoy Gatorade. He was also a friendly, intelligent man, who came in often to my food microbiology class to discuss various topics, and knew about a lot more than just medicine.
He will be missed.
Dr. Cade passes away

Hey WolfPuppies!!!!!!
Just wondering why I haven't heard/read anymore ramblings about NC State's men's basketball team!?! Especially after Rear's premature induction of J.J. Hickson into the ACC Hall of Fame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WTF is up with TWC?
Am I the only one who does not have an HDTV? I just got word from TWC that I have to have an HDTV by 2009 or will not be getting service anymore. I am not really sure why I don't have an HDTV? I was my only goal that I set for myself last year. I suck, I aim low and I still fail. The problem now is that I am saving to get a house this summer and I think that large televisions are not in my future. I refuse to buy an television that is smaller than 42 inches, preferably 60 inches and if I am going High Def why not go 1080i? Perhaps this will be just the motivation that I need to get off my ass.
For the Mo-o-o-o-ney guys
Did you hear about this today?

NEW YORK (Nov. 28) - Wall Street barreled higher Wednesday for the second day in a row, giving the Dow Jones industrial average its biggest two-day point gain five years after a Federal Reserve official hinted that the central bank may lower interest rates again.
I guess this is a good thing. I really know nothing about money other than the fact that there is cotton and other fibers in bills and that it is fucking filled with bacteria and drug residue. EEEew. Does anyone actually think that this is actually an indication that the market is looking up or this just wishful thinking from dubious stock traders? I mean if the info came from the fed I am sure that they chose their wording very carefully, right? TrayDawg or Greguar you got anything here?

A greatful Thanksgiving from the Admir0l.
Its been a good year.
My mom has said she hasn't seen me this happy in two years, and I owe it all to the plural You, my beeches.
Everyone is at least healthier and wiser.
El Tino & the Curser no longer living in sin. New jobs for the Sniper and the 'Uar. Vet School for Mintcey. The Gimp & Kate moved into a livable house. We've added a couple of keepers, including Big Russ, to the bonfire of our vanities, and that has been quite enjoyable.
Kudos to everyone.
All in all, I could not have planned nor wished for a better year.
Let's do it up right and keep on a roll.
We have two babies on the way and the wedding of Trey, so '08 can only be better.
Buckle up beeches - according to my doctor, severe trauma from accidents is the only real threat we have to deal with now.
Fucking elitist cocksuckers.
Henceforth, I shall abjure colloquialisms, anecdotes, mixed-metaphors, run on sentences and crass vulgarity in an attempt to raise our collective readability above elementary level.

Baker's dozen, hopefully last of the year.
2:10 flat, 10 minute miles.
So one thing I have noticed/experienced with practicing for & running marathons:
The other three I prepped for, the milli-second I was finished, I didnt run again until probably June of the following year.
Up until today, for the past three weeks, my legs have felt as if they were made completely out of lead. I have been fatigued beyond anything I ever remember.
Until today - pretty good run, although my left Achilles & right knee are sore.
WERE sore, until Asclepios granted me absolution via 4,5a-Epoxy-3-methoxy-17-methylmorphinan-6-one tartrate (1:1) hydrate (2:5)
Peace out, beeches.

There's been some discussion
Not quite as vituperative as the "Is the C in Cthulu silent?" or "Jennings: Greg or Craig?" discussions, but certain segments of the StRA community have made some convincing arguments that we, as a borg-like hive, based on sourced material from wikipedia, should no longer refer to the 'tubes' or 'interwebs' as "DARPA 'Net".
Instead, we must now refer to it as "ARPANET developed by DARPA".
Thus it is spake, and thus it shall be.

There's Already a post on this, but...
JJ Hickson is an absolute beast. The box score is pretty good - 12/12 fg, 31 points, 8 rebound, assist, & blocked shot - but that doesn't even begin to describe the performance I saw in person. In the second half, when Hickson was quadruple-teamed and made the shot despite being fouled by at least 3 defenders, I was like, "This guy is a beast."
I know it was just William & Mary but Hickson was two tiers above the other NC State players. The only players I've seen control a game like that are named Jordan, James, and O'Neal. Unless he pulls an Ivan Wagner, this guy is going to 1) be a #1 draft pick or 2) be the other retired number at NC State. David Thompson, who?

My thoughts? Idiotic heiress = much bigger issue
Paris Hilton is being praised by conservationists for highlighting the problem of binge-drinking elephants in northeastern India.
Activists said a celebrity endorsement such as Hilton's was sure to raise awareness of the plight of the pachyderms that get drunk on farmers' homemade rice beer and then go on a rampage.
"The elephants get drunk all the time. It is becoming really dangerous. We need to stop making alcohol available to them," Hilton said.
Last month, six wild elephants that broke into a farm in the state of Meghalaya were electrocuted after drinking the potent brew and then uprooting an electricity pole.
"There would have been more casualties if the villagers hadn't chased them away. And four elephants died in a similar way three years ago. It is just so sad," Hilton was quoted as saying in Tokyo last week.

Anyone ever taken Zicam?
I have the beginnings of what I fear will be a long winter of discontent.
So I went ahead and did the math: $10 for some Zicam, if it works, will definitely be worth the amount of time spent not feeling like shit.
Anyone ever taken it? Good results?

Norman Mailer, RIP, runs into my one true love.
The "Naked and the Dead" was considered rich in naturalistic speech, but the publisher had forced Mailer to spell one four-letter word as "fug"; at a literary and theatrical party, when the actress Tallulah Bankhead was introduced to Mailer, she said: "So you're the young man who can't spell." Mailer socked her on the jaw, knocking out several teeth.
Lest anyone think I'm nothing but a war-monger.
Bent double, like old beggars under sacks,
Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge,
Till on the haunting flares we turned our backs
And towards our distant rest began to trudge.
Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots
But limped on, blood-shod. All went lame; all blind;
Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots
Of disappointed shells that dropped behind.
GAS! Gas! Quick, boys!-- An ecstasy of fumbling,
Fitting the clumsy helmets just in time;
But someone still was yelling out and stumbling
And floundering like a man in fire or lime.--
Dim, through the misty panes and thick green light
As under a green sea, I saw him drowning.
In all my dreams, before my helpless sight,
He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning.
If in some smothering dreams you too could pace
Behind the wagon that we flung him in,
And watch the white eyes writhing in his face,
His hanging face, like a devil's sick of sin;
If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood
Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs,
Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud
Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues,--
My friend, you would not tell with such high zest
To children ardent for some desperate glory,
The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est
Pro patria mori.

Veterans Day is like the 2nd Amendment:
Without it, we wouldnt have anything else.
##########################################
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields
Without it, we wouldnt have anything else.

Back in July I predicted a dire bear market that would drop the DOW to 10,500...look at the market's August-November performance and you'd think I'm an idiot. You might think that anyway, but I'm standing by that comment. And I think this week is where the massive market slide begins. I will not say crash - a true crash just can't happen anymore - but I will say that on Friday, the market will be below 12,000.

This is better than giant fanged Jew head races
Asked for his thoughts on the 2008 presidential election, Borat answered:
I cannot believe that it possible a woman can become Premier of US and A - in Kazakhstan, we say that to give a woman power, is like to give a monkey a gun - very dangerous. We do not give monkeys guns any more in Kazakhstan ever since the Astana Zoo massacre of 2003 when Torkin the orang-utan shoot 17 schoolchildrens. I personal would like the basketball player, Barak Obamas to be Premier.

Mad props to T Bone
So Tzom calls and we discuss my extensive muscle soreness.
He recommends I ice down my legs, in a tub.
F That.
However, I did fill my trashcan w. ice, and have been able to ice at least my calves.
Maybe once Im a little more drunk, I'll go get a couple bags of ice and freeze the giblets.
Doubtful.
However, I will still get drunk.

Woo Hoo!!! I can walk!!!
Stairs are a wee bit of a challenge, but I used my ninja-like tumbling skills to just fall down safely.
Now, I have to see if I can contract my calf enough to push the gas pedal on my car.
Potential schedule for this week:
5K or so on Wednesday
300 #3 on Thursday
Old Reliable 5 or 10K on Sunday - Sidekick hasn't decided yet

Solids all around - Quite a kick ass weekend.
So our buddy Luke came into town yesterday with his beebes, aged 3 and 6 months. T Bone showed up w. the C Monster and we hung out with Moms and my niece for several hours.
The generic Thumbelina DVD = EASILY, by far, the most strange/surreal thing I've ever watched in my life. I really is like being in the head of a 3 year old. Quite disturbing.
Then, over to the Sidekick and VoR V1.0 / S.B.C's house for some grub. Moms came through with a shitload of Mexican steaks, and a whole passel of folks showed up.

Mainly sat around and shot the shit, and surprisingly enough, the Curser did not take out her vengance on me by "cunting" my mother.
Eventually, we did light up a pumpkin w. some gasoline. Good times!

For the marathon, the Sidekick and VoR V1.0 / S.B.C, the 'Uar and the Sniper, Moms and my niece, and T Bone and the C Monster all showed up to support the Admir0l.
Went out WAY too fast, knocked out the first 6 in 49 minutes. That came back to haunt me. I started cramping in my calves @ mile 10, and it didnt let up at all.
I did provide time updates approx every 2 miles, to keep the crowd informed of my flagging progress.
Most of the crew was at mile 11 to cheer me on, taking a break from tail-gating w. brats & beer. Hit the half at 1:52 and change.
T Bone & the C Monster made an appearance at mile 18.5, at the ass end of Umstead and its two gi-normous hills. Which I kind of liked, because they stretched my calves.
The Sin City Wolf made an appearance around mile 21/22, but by that point I was in a fog of pain and pretty much wanted to quit.
The 'Uar gets a mad solid for meeting up around mile 24, and running along with me, offering words of encouragement, and then we met up w. the Sidekick, Tbone and the C Monster at about 25.5, where the cheering section let loose.

Finished in 4:15 and change (9:44-ish pace), probably lower with my chip time, then went and kicked back some brats and beer. Fucking great time, and thanks to everyone for coming out to cheer. I definitely would have finished on my own, but I would have walked from 18, so thanks to everyone. Mui appreciated.
Go TEAM HUDSON

Now, off to watch some American Throw Ball. Beeches.

Ever have a day where you wake up and just.....
have to DANCE? Oh, Yeah baby. It was on this morning. I think I pissed off the QoC while she was trying to get ready for work. Just had to "move this" know what I mean? My playlist:
Had this in my head since I watched "Let's Go To Prison" The only way to get a song out is to play it. I listened to this about 17 times so far today. Had to stop after a slight testicle injury from a complicated dance move.
After that I thought I should just Feel the Flow.
One of the nicest MC of his time Treach could teach us all something. Plus this is one of my favorite videos. Hot women and snowboarding.
Ended the party on ODB.
This one has been in my playlist since I watched Knocked Up. RIP ODB

Not to begin planning ANOTHER shin-dig
But does anyone have any interest in a Kevin-sponsored tailgate of the race?
We could set up my little camp stove, some kielbasa brats, onions & buns and, since it IS legal to drink in the parking lot - BEER.
I thinking that a football, frisbie, maybe a croquet set would be really fun to wile away the 4 hours of me toodling around BFE.
*** SITE ADMIN NOTE ***

26.2 Marathon Finish Reedy Creek Road to Blue Ridge Road
My advice, for anyone who wants to move & view -- Park on the Western Blvd side, watch the start, cruise down to the Bell Tower, cut across & wait until I come up @ Cameron Village, back to the car, take Beltline to Glenwood, go down to Ebenezer, then back to RBC for finish. Or, sit in parking lot & drink.
We could set up my little camp stove, some kielbasa brats, onions & buns and, since it IS legal to drink in the parking lot - BEER.
I thinking that a football, frisbie, maybe a croquet set would be really fun to wile away the 4 hours of me toodling around BFE.
