Well, that's one project 60% finished

Finally decided to paint the front porch. Not too bad other than

1) I may be the world's worst painter.
2) It still probably needs another coat to completely cover all of the "holes"
3) I'm going to need Kevin's ladder to reach all of the trim areas I need to touch up.

Now I just need to paint up the window trim, and the front of the house will look almost respectable.

So El Tino & I were taking a load of furniture to the storage shed last night.
Turns out the locker next to ours is inhabited by a band of Mexican squatters.
My FIRST assumption was that they're running a whorehouse out of a storage shed.
Then I thought -- meth lab.
Then I thought -- cock fighting.

At that point, I realized I was going through every stereo-type possible and quit thinking about it.

They were gone last night when we took last load ( 11:30 pm)

I'll post update if they're there tonight.

El Tino is coming over this evening to start helping me move stuff -- if you cant make it tonight, dont worry -- there's always tomorrow night!!!

As far as the weekend of July 7th -- make sure to wear clothes that can get dirty or paint on them.

So we had Linda Craft of "Linda Craft" come by and give us the run-down on selling the house. She was quite high nosed & sniffy about our low-brow split level ranch. I'm like "Ok, she is a professional, this is just years of experience about what sells and what doesnt"
The meeting at her office was equally brutal -- she was REALLY honest/bitchy about what would have to put in -- lots of painting, a new roof and yard work being the big ones.
Then her "Stager" came out and just kicked me in the nuts -- she sniffed and was like "I smell cat urine. There's pee everywhere" -- Im like "Ouch" -- I dont think I live in filth and to get ball busted by a stranger just doesnt feel good at all.

Then the costs of the roof are coming in and Im like "FUCK ME! I should have been a roofer."

Anyway -- going to be a rough couple weeks. Getting a storage shed & starting to move boxes and shit ASAP. Then we have to paint almost the entire downstairs. Then Geronimo ( i shit you not -- this dude is straight out of the river after crossing from Mexico) is going to tell me what needs to be done yard wise. My HOPE would be to dig everything up and mulch it. My fear is sod.

So we're still on for the weekend of Aug 7 -- probably painting & yard work, since most stuff should be moved out by then.

Looks like we have a confirmed lift off

Talked w. agent yesterday -- lots of stuff working in our favor that make selling the barn a good deal - part of it is the really really really low interest rates ( like 4.375 or lower) which make buying up actually affordable. The other thing is that the whole equitable distribution thing has been draggin out for 4 years... time to fish or cut bait.

Also -- I'm pretty F-ing sick of not have a tub that I fit in.

So the things we dont want are to live further north than Durant (at the worst) just because of traffic, and want a 2 car garage, a big honkin kitchen and a huge f-ing tub.
The other things I want are NOTHING in my back yard -- either a lake, river or a park being preferable.

So it might be that we sell & then rent for a few months.

Anyway -- we're looking @ August 7th -- anyone who wants is free to come on over & help clean or paint.

Depending on how our meeting goes tomorrow w. the realtor, we might have a GO on needing to get the house cleaned up & things moved out to storage

The calendar being as it is, the first weekend in august is about all I have open between now & mid/late sept.

So.... we'd be willing to supply an endless supply of beer & wings and get a couple "teams" organized to do some painting, do some yard work, and do some moving of stuff.

Quite upset @ the wife

So one of the benefits of being converted is the "Christmas Vacation"-like end of year bonus. I have NEVER in my life wasted a large sum of money (purposefully -- the multi-level marketing shenanigans that I got suckered into seemed like a good deal).
However... the wife has agreed that when the time comes, she will have no problem with me buying a sniper rifle.

Here's where it gets tricky. She asks "Why do you NEED a 50 cal sniper rifle?"

need tech help

1) youtube, etc isn't playing on the school laptop I took home over the summer. Something about adope flash 10.1 (not Beta). The IT guy at school says I should bring it in, but I'm lazy. Tips? videos are playing on the blog and facebook though. . .

2) we're considering a huge change in cable, internet and cell (which may include the house line as well).
a) change wireless to limit text/file downloads my dad (or his creepyish friends?) are using may more than we are. The third line we got him uses up most of our minutes and has pushed us to plan changes (with ATT) twice to stay ahead of his use. We do still feel the need to keep him phone-able, in spite of all of his lameitude.
b) expand cable for sports (or an online alternative) - would cost of online subscription with c) be cheaper than moving from basic to regular or package cable? We don't really want to watch more TV, just different TV.
c) the main change is to increase internet download time so we can NetFlix, Podcast Vet school lectures, etc.

any recommendations, anecdotes, etc are welcome. Just trying to increase some access while keeping the full communication package at/under $150/month
