Anyone interested in writing a novel in November?
National Novel Writing Month.
50,000 words.
My only problem - I honestly believe everything worth writing has already been done.
How many more novels do we need with a protagonist that has lost faith because his family was killed by a random herd of vampire/werewolf/zombie/acid-blooded-alien barbarians who travel through time in a space ship shaped like a moose head?
I mean, we all can see it coming that after the merry band of midget thieves rescue the hero from a nest of flying T Rexes, he of COURSE gets the girl who is SURPRISE the President's daughter.
The title of my novel - "CLICHE - An adven-love-trag-omedy through time, space and the belly of a cow"
Oh, and its a musical.
Come on people! ITS ALL BEEN DONE BEFORE!!!

Moms is coming into town, so I have to finish cleaning my shithole/slash/house.
Saturday is the Big Shindig @ the Sidekick & Commish's house. I do apologize for organizing a dinner at someone else's house, but thats how I roll. Steaks all around, so keep your calendars open.
The marathon is Sunday. I'll probably run M,Tu,Wed, Thurs 4-5 miles/day, if anyone is interested.
Anyone who does not have their "Team Hudson" shirt needs to get their shit in gear.
The Owners meeting is I THINK Sunday afternoon, prior or during the Pats/Bolts game.

Very tired, but a win is a win.
Hopefully, we didnt unleash too bad a torrent of vulgarity around Mackadocious.

I reset the play count on my entire ITunes Directory.
Deleted all custom play lists.

Little pet peeve that drives me Deez. Deez what?
Nuts.
So, I love my boy Trey Deee and all, but one thing that REALLY drives me nuts is the CC email which includes strangers.
I will occasionally send out a blast, but if I include diverse groups of people, like work & old work, friends or family, I generally BCC.
Now, I tried to teach Trey a lesson several years ago by REPLYING ALL and telling him I was gonna rape him if he ever did it again. If I remember, his grandfather was part of that.
Maybe using vaseline instead of sand gave him the impression I wasnt peeved.
I wish I could quit you, Trey Deee.

Mad Props....
-First of all go to the Admiral for "war-ing off" three, yes two plus one more, noobs in their own base to perserve a tie (although now we know that there are no ties in hockey!!!) for the good guys (us!) and once again cementing himself as a valuable component for our squad....all this while ranking up to the title of Gunnery Sarg!!!!! Brava Admiral, well done
-Secondly, props go out to HEP for picking up the slack when I drop the ball and always owning in the objective games that I just seem to be subpar in!
-And lastly, props go out to the Sidekick for reminding me why I don't bother to call my girlfriend during those few days when she's "not herself"....and if you really need to hear me say it..."I think you are hilarious also Senor Sidekick...but with your powers combined you and the Admiral are OG's....Original Gutbusters!!!!"

Thanks again the the 'Uar and Sidekick for coming up with this, our greatest of ideas.
ASiP is like Seinfeld on Crack!
It's totally unbelievable! Watching Seinfeld is like watching ASiP on Prozac. Same thing just subtle and a bit more clever. You should really watch the Seinfeld's again then go watch ASiP.

Say Wha!?
Surprising article at www.si.com in the college basketball section. According to Gavin Grant, NC State will lose less than 4 games this season. I don't think this a morally adjusted figure, either.
Ah, silky silky !!! No layoffs this quarter, beeches!!!
AT&T Inc., the nation's largest telecommunications company, on Tuesday reported net income of $3.1 billion in the third quarter, a 42 percent jump from the previous year before its acquisition of BellSouth Corp.

Looks like its gonna be one of "those" weekends.
Saturday -- Virginia game & then Chill-o-ween with the neighbors.
That could be a very long night
Sunday -- "Football", or as we non-commies call it, soccer @ noon w. Gee
Then, American Throwball w. the Crew.
Anyone up for anything Friday night? I figure, what the fuck, lets tear it up.

So Mendoza got herself stuck 30' up a tree
HEP came over, helped hold the ladder while I scampered up and freed my baby-girl from foul imprisonment at the hands of the wankster squirrels that led her up the tree.
Forgot to mention - I am old as dirt
So after 5 hrs @ Carowinds, we were kind of bushed.
I jokingly asked if my niece or her friend could drive home.
Her friend says, "I'm taking drivers ed this fall!!!"
I'm like "HFS! I took drivers ed in 1989! The Berlin Wall was still up!"
They look at each other and say "Whats the Berlin Wall?"

Trip to Carowinds update
Started Friday night w. a stop @ Golden Corral to people watch.
Its like a diabetics-to-be convention - I'm always surprised there are so many two footed people there, considering their diet, lack of exercise, and girth.
Next, stayed up late pwn-ing my niece & her friend at Guitar Hero.
By the end of the weekend, I was able to just say "You know why?", and she would say "Because you're awesome."
Saturday trip over to Carowinds, I laid down the law:
If they saw friends and ditched me, they better have rides home.
If they whined, they better have rides home.
As the day progressed, we ended up with about 20 or 30 different laws, such as:
If you sing to Cher, you better have rides home.
I am nothing if not tyrannical and capricious.
We also had many different slap bets going throughout the day.
Our discussion about how a warm winter is good for everyone but polar bears - classic.
Funniest part of the whole day -- I HATED the Drop Zone, which lifts you up X feet, then just drops you. Fucking Hated It. She told me to sack up. HILARIOUS.
Good times.
Then we had dinner w. moms, hung out and listened to the Pack victory on the radio, then road tripped to Ghetto Lion for late night ice cream.
All in all, a good time.

I'd like to apologize
This morning I just realized that there weren't ties in the NHL anymore. This seems to have started in the first season after the lockout. I'd like to apologize for not knowing as I know this is very disappointing to many.
I'd also like to apologize for not knowing which blog to put this on as is the Ironic Smack Talk only for football sports, knowing that this blog is not normally a sports blog.
My shame is great on both accounts

Could've been different if not for Keith Whitley's killer
So the incoming Kelly Hope, could have been Kelly Hope Aikman if not for Keith Whitley's killer. That's right folks, The Sidekick's lady friend was this close to the Aikman until Lorrie Morgan broke it up back in the early 90's. Oh what could of been.
Then just to be a bitch she got rid of Aikman and started shtupping ol' Fred Thompson of Senator, actor, presidential candidate fame.
Wow that lady is a bitch, a hooch, and a killer. The old Triple Threat!

I'm shocked, shocked that there's cheating going on here!

Man enough to admit - I suck at the Trois
So its partially the fact that this generation of kids has been playing Halo non-stop for nearly 3 years, while I have not. Sweep sniping is the prime example of this.
Also, there is the fact that I still haven't adjusted to all the physics of the game, and haven't found my "noob combo" to help me pwn beeches.
My "run forward, aim at head, try to elbow" strategy = miserable failure.
I'm not running w. my boys which, on TEAM slayer, is a big No No.
I tend to dive into melee and get "lost" instead of staying high and shooting folks.
The multi-layered bases + Radar is really messing with me spatially. I get assassinated ALL the time.
Whatever the reason is - I have sucked up a big donkey dick the past couple nights.
HEP & AJ Dynamite are going into the mid teens, while I'm a lowly 7. That means it takes FOREVER to find games.
I think the only solution is for me to run, day in & day out.
No more half stepppin.
Training for a higher paying job? On hold until I get an MVP.

Now I know that only being in a relationship for 4 1/2 months means that I am trailing most of you guys/gals by a mile but 4 months ago when my lady friend suggested watching the reality talent show So You Think You Can Dance I had no reservations. Little did I know that I'd later be shelling out $200 bucks to see the tour come through Charlotte and even more money on ballroom/latin dancing lessons! Although I'm enjoying every moment of this time with my honey, should I have forseen this sort of monetary commitment given the fact that it is a relationship between a man and a woman (translated: a woman and a man's wallet)???!!!!???
Been awhile since I've done anything but run.
Since my Achilles tendon and hip flexors are just plain worn out from running, I went ahead and did a little bit of a workout yesterday.

Word of the Day
Since no one posted yesterday, here's something new as suggested by the Sniper.
We have a word of the day, and you must use it at work in a sentence whilst speaking to someone. Gauge their reaction as they look quizzically at you.
Today's word "Quotidian" quotidian \kwoh-TID-ee-uhn\, adjective:
1. Occurring or returning daily; as, a quotidian fever.
2. Of an everyday character; ordinary; commonplace.

Three the easy way...
thanks to the Admir0l! Witty banter makes the miles fly by. Finished my first 5k in 30:30 editor's note: it was officially 30:45, sorry to disappoint (would have been sub 30, but for shoe issues; for want of a shoe, the horse was lost...).
Also thanks to Jackass number 2, and to the little kid that pwned both of us (the Admir0l could have run him down, but he held back).
Now to get drunk.
Edit: We've decided to tailgate the race next year. Getting up at 4:30 to cook a pig and drink cervesas never sounded so enticing!

Luckily enough, my complete & utter disdain for the Nobel Peace Prize has already been well documented (ahead of the curve, beeches!), so this in no way surprises me, except for the fact that neither Robert Mugabe or Hugo Chavez won.
I'm surprisingly not as upset as I thought I would be. However, if I ever get my hands on Trey Deee's Time Machine, I'm going back to kill Jean Jacques Rousseau to hopefully destroy the myth of the Noble Savage.
Fucking Enlightenment.

OMG, that really has to hurt like a sum beech
So Henry Blake has been a little licky on his front paw, and I noticed today that he was favoring it.
Using my mad vet tech skilz, I did check out his paw & pads, and didn't find anything demonstrably wrong.
Oh boy, did I miss a doozy.
His nail has come off of his dew claw.
HFS. That has to hurt like a sum beech.
So, I have dug around and hooped my buddy up on as much doggy pain medication as I could find in the house.
Man, I feel like shit for missing this.
You're my boy, Henri!!!

Gilbert Arenas Halo-Gate
October 11, 2007 3:17 PM
In today's bullets we discussed the possibility that Gilbert Arenas might be achieving high Halo rankings by setting up dummy games with friends to gain points. (I have no idea what I'm talking about, by the way.)
Dan Steinberg of the D.C. Sports Bog, in a real show-off move, confronted Arenas about it, and demanded a "60 Minutes" style confession:
"Gilbert," I said, approximately, "people say you're cheating at Halo 3."
"I'm cheating?" he said. "How am I cheating?"
"Gilbert," I asked, approximately, "are you creating dummy games with two fake friends and using the wins to rack up experience points?"
"Yeah," he said, laughing. "Yeah."
Sigh.
"It's a glitch," he explained. "It's a glitch in the game. I seen some kids that were like 600s, they won 600 Halo games and we only had that game for two weeks. And all the kids go to school. So I'm like, 'What the hell you all doing?' And they said that's what they doing, two-on-two."

"Yeah."

This is why I try to hang out with the Admir0l on full moons - when I'm in Raleigh on full moons, that is.
And that, mon freres, is a sub 2 hrs13 miles.
That is all, beeches.
Good night, and good luck.

Brilliant News!
NC State is finally ranked in ESPN.com's 'Bottom 10' that highlights the ten worst teams in Division I football. We're only #10 but I swear there's a bullet next to the glorious red S.

Every now and again
I can be kind of amusing.
Last night I picked my wife back up from the airport after she was off visiting friends and family for a week. As most of you know she's with internal baby, and has reached the point where she can't really wear her wedding bands anymore. As such, I pull up to the curb, and as I step out of the car to grab her bags, I scream 'you're pregnant? you said you just needed some time to yourself!'
Not sure how many people heard me, but the wife laughed which is all that's important.
Wow, I feel like I should send this in to 'Laughter, the Best Medicine' section of the Reader's Digest (if they still publish that anymore).

get to the finish line on this
The drums are a big part of it as well as the imagined spectator I hear saying it about me when I need to hear one. Of course, now this only comes up when I'm trying to get through the 30nth 8 out of 15 earth science vocabular quiz grade. . .
So of course...
After putting on a 10 day binge that included dry heaves, a Ben Franklin bar tab of $2.50 pints, 45 miles of running and two 4 o'clockers, my boy Gee decides to give me shit that theres video footage from the time Sweet Dee sent me back in time to run in the '24 Olympics.
Fuck you Gee! If I wasn't post Jewish, I would have run on Saturday!!!
And yes, I do run in khakis.
But only if I've spritzed my giblets with baby powder, or else I chafe.
Suck it, beeches.

So all one really needs to do to win a Nobel...
is to, in general, be a jackbooted or velvet gloved thug.
I can only assume Robert Mugabe is on the short list for this year's award.
So you would think that with options like giving back to back Nobels for The Hoff, who helped re-unite Germany, then led them on a beer drenched march to the World Cup as honorary captain, you would think THAT is worthy of a Peace Prize.
Come on! He kept the fucking Deutsch too drunk to fight!
Isn't "Not Fighting" the TRUE definition of peace?
Nope.
Soviet Union leader Mikhail Gorbachev was awarded the 1990 Nobel Peace Prize for his "efforts to lessen Cold War tensions and reform his nation."
As noted earlier, the defacto winner of Nobels from 1981-1989 was, along w. PJP II "The Deuce" and the Iron Lady, the one truly responsible for peace.
So in honor of the fraud that is the Nobel Peace Prize, the award for 1990 goes to...
Milli Vanilli.

So Moms went on the 'tubes to find her old beau!!!
HFS, my mom actually went on the DarpaNet and found "The Dude She Ran Off With"
My new favorite morning ritual
aside from pooping blood, is to read through the main stories on the WRAL homepage and then decide whether I think Steve Crisp has posted a comment in them (WRAL has instituted a talkback section on their main stories). Then, I go find his comments; here are two from the 'State Loses Millions on Sales Tax from Online Purchases'
Long ago on this thread, thestryper invoked that old Biblical saying, "Render unto Caeser that which is Caeser's" as a justification for paying this use tax. He forgets one thing, though.
Caeser was divine in the Roman government system. He was literally condsidered god under a quasi-theocracy much like the King of England had divine rights under his rule. As such, what Caeser said pretty much went.
We are a democratic republic, the powers of our government derive only from what we as citizens grant them. We have the power to change those laws within the bounds of our federal and state constitutions anytime we want. And if our elected representatives will not listen to the will of the people, then we have the authority to elect new people to represent us as we want them to.
It is time for the citizens of our country to stop lying down in front of our elected leaders and accept anything they toss at us. It is time again for us to firmly tell them what we want and for them to do it.
and
And since no one has yet to provide a full explanation for this, I will try to do so.
North Carolina can not legally charge sales tax on items not purchased within the state or where the seller does not have a brick and morter presence. That means that anything you purchase from someone elsewhere is not subject to sales tax. But if you bring it back into NC and use it here, we charge a use tax on the price of that item, the amount thereof which just so happens ot coincide with the sales tax rate. Some coincidence, huh? :)
Anyway, that use tax applies no matter how you purchased it -- on line, on vacation, or even if it was sent to you as a gift. If you use it here, they expect you to pay use tax on it.
Now, when you file, you can also show that you paid tax in another state. So if you paid five percent tax and our use tax is seven percent, you are still liable for the difference of two percent.
Now,, let's throw out the idiots who came up with this and install some honest people.
Fantastic!

Louisville
Anyone notice Utah put a smack on Louisville that was worse than the one we got from Louisville? Apparently, we are that bad. I think Carolina is our only hope to avoid 1-11.

So the 'Uars mom is smoking hot, but mine ....
apparently is a whore.
So I was mentioning that one of my buddies, who shall go unnamed, is trying to raise his son as a fan of the Oakland Raiders.
To which Moms replies:
"Oh, in high school, I ran off with the Winter King, who was an Oakland Raider"
And by ran off, I can only assume there was some schtuping in the glory hole since Grandpa Angus got the gun down from above the fireplace.
HFS.
HFS is right man!

On the same vein as T Bone
I'm trying to get ahead of the curve, so I've started downloading the soundtrack for Guitar Hero 3 - but not the crappy songs, thanks to the critiquing powers of Capt. Shitknife.
Place your orders now, and once T Bone & I learn how to burn CDs, they will be in the mail.

Burning to burn
So one or two CD's at a time, I've nearly ripped my entire, comparably small CD collection. Now comes the time to start burning random combinations of music genres. As you may have noticed before, I'm good with chemicals, most hand tools, and fishing gear. I'm good at fishing electronics out of pools of water, but that's about it.
Any recommendation on the type of CD I burn on or the format (plus minus strange truth obtuse) if most of the crappy music a decade or so old that I love is going to be played in the car or during my poor students' two hour labs?
Apparently I have a "light scribe" writer as well, is that worth it?

Another great fight!
So I finally watched the Taylor-Pavlik fight last night. I did not know anything about the fight, and once again I must say, this is why I love boxing. Another 7 rounds of tremendous action on both sides, and of course did not go to decision. If no one else has seen the replay of this and even more beneficial knows the outcome, we need to watch this.
I ran 4+ miles with the Rear yesterday and I was just as tired after watching this fight!

krazy keyboard issues
So, my precious Caleb is sick day two coming up and I'm trying to type the sub instructions on the districts MS Word tonight before it gets too late in the evening and the lack of sleep plus running all over the triangle all day for vet visits with the mildly feverish Caleb catches up to me in earnest and I try to type the line
. . . complete review problems at the end of each section. They do not need to write/restate the question but clearly indicate which question they are answering, ex 3.1 31.
No! I did hit shift 3 expecting a #, but in the school network, I can't hit shift 3 and get #, I get 3.
so I try a couple other formatting things like superscript and subscript key shortcuts control = and control shift = and I get diddly
so no lie, I hit shift and type each number and the line looks like this !@3$%^&*(). No fucking pound sign. . .
Take an odd day and make it odder. I dove into the beer fridge before I went further, I still don't know what is wrong, but emailed our wrestling coach/campus tech dude. . .

All in all, another stellar weekend.
Hopefully, we will at some point finish off the 800 pounds of chicken and beans.
Otherwise, it looks like we have the next two weekends off, and if we were wise, we'd use it to recharge the old batteries or possibly get some much needed yard work done.
I'm just putting this out there, but whatever happens, if anyone who's favorite colors are orange & green calls and asks us to come over, it might be a good idea to take a rain check.

I was thinking that the RA still hasn't come home to mama with a tattoo yet. There may be a greater story than "this shit hurts" behind it, but then again, I've never remembered to ask.I'm still votin' for O Z Z Y R U L Z across the fists. . .
