I turn the hat & it's like turning a switch

Tebowing and Occupying Herbstreit

Tebowing for Everyone
Occupy HerbStreit

Oh Rear, Where Art Thou?

There university's emergency response system kicked in because there's a dude with a gun running around campus. All I got were details from our emergency alert system but there was a stick up job at Cameron Village and the perp retreated to campus.

*Update...all clear signaled and no longer on lock down. No details on how actual events match up against the Wolf Alert System.

**Update...a mullet head robbed a bank at Cameron Village ran with the loot. To NC State. Campus cops got him. I call him a mullet head because he compounded his bank robbery charges by running on campus with a gun, a solid felony to add to an already impressive pile of felonies.

This one's for my boy Brent, who will soon be wearing the headset of DOOOOOOOOM!!!!

so, i apparently took somniloquy to a whole new level..

that's right, daddy pulled out the big words for this gem.

it's not a common issue, but according to my wife i will occasionally talk in my sleep. happens to us all, right? well, apparently i took this to a whole new level monday night as i threw a tums bottle across the bedroom to quiet an annoying leprechaun. leprechaun? who the hell knows. according to dreammoods.com, "To see a leprechaun in your dream, suggests that through perseverance and dedication, you will reap the benefits and rewards of your hard work." now i'm assuming that this is what the little fuck was trying to tell me, but considering i was exhausted from all my "hard work" and was getting up at 5am, i would prefer if he kept his thoughts to himself.

now most of the time i wouldn't be able to give vivid details of a dream, or in this case a figment of my imagination, 5 seconds after they happen. it's those bazaar ones that stick in your memory so i figured i'd share.

now i don't remember what was being said to me, but i do remember that i couldn't sleep because of it. i roll over to faintly see this short dude sitting over by the master bath door about 9' from me spouting gibberish. my wife hears "would you shut the fuck up?!" wow, not only is my tone aggressive but it's vulgar. i proceed to roll over, dude simply will not shut his yapper. what followed is simply fantastic. half asleep i reach for the closest thing i can find, a tums bottle on the nightstand, and hurl it at the door accompanied by "i said.. shut the fuck up!"

victory was mine.

Every couple months or so... I get this stuck in my head

Compare How Scott Hall Looks to Kevin Nash...

Keep in mind that Nash is 52 at this point.

Five word review of "Up all night"

Shit about to get real.

So I've hated Christina Applegate since she stood over River Phoenix and laughed as he died. But damn.... this show is kind of funny.

OMG -- she started singing "Lightening Crashes" and I nearly shit myself.

( Last week when Sarah was @ hospital, we were jokingly singing "Closing Time" as they wheeled her off & gave her the super duper sleepy shot)

OMG OMG -- JUMP AROUND BEECHES!!!!!!!!!

Even more ominousity

My other daily dose of awesomeness -- SPENGLER, in all his glory.

Pro Wrestling Content Ahead.

If you haven't watched the E:60 on Scott Hall yet, go do so now...just incredibly sad and sobering (no pun intended).

Also, holy shit, just looked up Jake Roberts and according to his wiki, he's 6'6''! I knew Hall was 6'7'', but thought The Snake was maybe 6'1''.

No matter how hard you try, you will never be this cool

Now this is something I can get onboard with.

I PITY THE FOOL!!!!!

So this song always makes me wonder

Say you could actually take a CD or MP3 player back to the prosaic 50s and let someone listen to this song. The differences in society seem so striking -- would they even understand the deconstruction of an iconic American hero ? Would they riot and threaten to lynch the time traveler for being a commmunist who hated American ??? The only other song that makes me "think" is the Beatles "I want to hold your hand" -- it seems SO quaint and outdated, its hard to even imagine times were so simple.

SCARED!!!!!!!!!!!!

So the two big fears I have are
#1 -- Iranians setting off an EMP over the mid-west & sending us back to the Dark Ages

#2 -- the Chinese going after Taiwan and effectively neutering our Pacific fleet.

Now I gotta worry about THIS.

BTW -- Walter Russel Meade is one of my daily treats -- dude is fucking brilliant.

How to know you're old

You hire someone to cut a tree down rather than do it yourself.

Anyway -- that big fucking oak out front is starting to lean & rub the house -- thats apparently bad.
I THOUGHT about tying a rope on & just cutting the fucker down into the cul-de-sac.
That MIGHT be against home owners association regulations.

I dont have rights to the politcs/religion/GW blog, but HT to Sweet Dee

Best thing you'll listen to all day.

Don't hold back, just push things forward from Ithaca Audio on Vimeo.

Should we fear THIS more than zombies or smart bears?

Occupy Wall Street

I'm very interested in this movement and believe in it...for now. Of course, their scope is so small that almost everyone can believe in something and see it as an OWS tenet. But this is what it's about:

American Wages as a Percent of America GDP 1955-2011
This chart excludes bonuses, dividends, capital gains, etc. It's just sum of American take home pay.

Holy shit

THIS IS FUCKING AWESOME

Not sure what to make of this yet

I agree with the analysis that you have Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Captain America .... and a guy with a bow. And a chick who does flips. What script hijinks will they have to contrive so that bow guy & flippy chick are actually useful????

Other fun (?) distance events

It's called Tobacco Road, not ATT. It doesn't offer Relay, but it does promise flat (think railroad track) course and tempts the white person in us all with "Boston Qualifier"

The other REALLY cool one I want to try is the 20 miler at Uwharrie. I might soil myself if a StRA member will committ to running it with me! Registration opens Nov 1st and one has to register quick to get a spot.

I am not yet interested in something like the Umstead marathon just yet. I've found getting to 20 miles fairly easy, but I've blown up hard after 20. . . Something about a closing 6. I think running 20 on trails might be a good start to this endeavor. . .

and the badass that I probably never will be, but will think about:

Umstead 100

There is a fifty miler in it, but I noticed that it's already filled (four months in advance of the race).

Planning way in advance marathon by relay???

I had a great time running the Warrior dash. My marathon training plan kind of blew up in my face once school started. It's just too much to knock out runs over 10 miles around the vet school/toddler schedule. I've kicked ass at the sub 10 mile runs though.

I knocked out a 15 miler the week after the dash, but haven't hit over 10 since. So I'm working on converting my full back to a half for the city of oaks.

Would you all be interested in trying something like this RELAY for next year? We could train together as much as possible, but ultimately, we wouldn't have to. I'm already volunteering to take the closing leg, unless someone else really wants to take that part.

After I post this, I'm going to check the American Tobacco Trail marathon for the spring and see if it offers something similar. . .

"Relay InfoMarathon Relay teams have 4 members. Relay leg distances in order:

•6.2 miles (moderately difficult, some hills)
Finishes at Mile Marker 6.2. After completing the lead off leg, it's a 5-minute walk via Oberlin to the start/finish area.
•5.0 miles (flattest leg)
Exchange #1: Clark Street at Daniels at Cameron Village. No transportation provided from the start/finish to Cameron Village. It's a 5-minute walk via Oberlin to/from the start/finish area. Finishes at MM 10.2.
•5.6 miles (moderately difficult hills)
Exchange #2: Blue Ridge at Water Tower across from Fairgrounds. Transportation provided to/from Pullen Rd near start/finish. Finishes at MM 16.8.
•9.4 miles (Umstead Park portion is hilly)
Exchange #3: Graylyn at Ebenezer Church. Transportation provided to and from Cameron Village. Anchor leg finishes at the the NCSU Bell Tower. "

BOOM!!!!

5 word review of "Friends with Benefits"

Best Rom-Com Since Easy A

So J.T. is just one charismatic fucker, and the fact that they get the TINY things right (like people in a relationship arguing about who sings a song and the confident & brash person , who is wrong, wins the argument) makes this movie work.
