Music 7.30.11

This first track is an electronic number from Passion Pit called Sleepyhead. Very interesting sound and kind of lively for a song called Sleepyhead. One of their other big ones lately is The Reeling which has been remixed no less than 45 times. Also kind of interesting.



This track is an albino muslim hip hop artist. His name is Brother Ali and he has a very interesting delivery. In this particular song which is called Forest Whitaker he makes a comparison of himself to the actor. One of my favorite lines, "I'm albino man, I know I'm pink and pale, and hairy as hell everywhere but fingernails."



In Adam Sandlers' latest movie Just Go With It he had several mash ups. They were all interesting but I thought that this was probably the best at least in my opinion. It is by DJ Zebra and it is called This Tainted Love. I have all of the Mash Ups from the movie if anyone is interested or the mp3 trick to pull from YouTube will work.

I'm not sure who is interested in this especially after the Kazaa ordeal but you can send this website the url from youtube for any song/video and it will rip the music and provide a mp3 file for you to dl.

I have only used it a few times for rare things like a Jimi Hendrix cover of Like a Rolling Stone. I know that it works. I have to imagine that these kind of sites could possibly have an ulterior motive toward your computer. I have not detected any viruses thus far but I am using a iMac.

Adam Carolla of Loveline, Man Show, ACE, et al happened to run out of red wine one night recently while drinking. He brilliantly looked around to find a substitute to finish off his glass and happened upon his bottle of vodka. Thus Mangria was born.

4 parts red wine
1 part vodka
Splash of OJ (or to taste)

I haven't tried it myself but then again I do not drink wine on the regular.

HBO Original Series Are The Best

I've had free HBO for about a year, now. Aside from Real Time, I haven't watched their original series until this week. This is some really good stuff. Been through a season of Entourage and Curb Your Enthusiasm. ROFL. Trying Ture Blood for the first time, now.

[Spoilers in the rest of this paragraph.] Mysterio tricked Wolverine into killing all the X-Men, so Wolverine spends years refusing to use his claws. As an old man, he returns to his violent ways when his entire family is murdered by Hulk’s grandchildren. He goes on a killing spree through the Banner family tree and is “defeated and consumed” by Hulk. Wolverine heals himself in Hulk’s stomach then bursts out, killing him. At the end of the series, Wolverine has adopted the only living member of the Banner family, the infant Bruce Banner Junior.

I am not sure if =anyone is into GnR and maybe doesn't want some loud blaring Slash power riffs while their kids are around but I heard this cover the other day. Very gentle. Be warned, and not aiming to upset any hardcore fans.

The second one is Up, Up, Up, by Givers. Interesting sound and energetic but yet still kind of subdued on this track.

The last one is James Blake. A British Synth composer but still some mellow stuff. I just picked up the James Blake album so if you like what you hear hit me up.

Last Friday was my 1 year anniversary as a full timer @ ATT... or as my VP put it, the 2 & 1/2 anniversary of my first chance to be a full timer.

PC Modders Have Too Much Free Time

Of course, it was this commitment to modding that caused me to rebuy Oblivion on the PC (a game I've already put 120 hours into), just so I could play through it with a bunch of the different mods that are out there.

My Zoo Primer.

So, we went to the zoo today (awesome!)and I thought I'd help those of you with younger children out a little and give you a little primer (of course, all of you bastards will have already been and won't need the font of info I'm about to spurt upon you, but whatev).

1)Very happy we waited until the kid was 3.5 before we took her to the zoo. You can take them younger (as many, many families did today), but they won't be able to see/run/play well enough to get much out of the experience. Many of the animals are way far away, so they're hard to see or point out to a super small child. Also, the zoo is awesome in that they have all kinds of little exhibits and docents hanging out telling you cool info about the animals; younger kids don't care about that shit.

2) Bring good, good, good shoes. There is one metric fuckton of walking that you're going to do. The exhibits are around 5 minutes apart by walking, so you do not want to break in new flip flops by going to the zoo.

3) Speaking of walking, bring a stroller (yes, even for a 3.5 year old like we have). Being able to throw bottles of water, sunscreen, bookbag, camera, phones, and the kid into the stroller made life a lot easier (and enjoyable since this is a multi hour trip). The zoo is stroller friendly, so it was never a hindrance.

4) Pick a continent mutherfucker. There are two "areas" to the zoo, N. America and Africa; you're going to initially think 'hey, let's run through N. America and then hit Africa after lunch!'

FUCK NO. The two continents are somewhere around 1.5 miles apart; yes, there's a shuttle, but that's just pride fucking with you.

(The other upside is that you don't feel rushed in the park you're in.)

5) Spring for the extra $6 tix. They get you access to the carousel, some Dora/Diego movie and the giraffe feeding area. Hailey loves her some carousel action, and my favorite part of the park was the giraffe feeding (that's where the pic above is from), so it's worth it just so you're not having to pay individually for each of the activities.

Thought Lee Greenwood would be a little trite...

so I went with Ray Stevens instead!
